“Every time you choose honesty over approval or what is true for you over what is expected, you move closer to living as the person you've been all along.” — The Akashic Records
Have you ever noticed how often life asks us to choose between being accepted and being authentic?
It might be deciding whether to say what we really think or simply agree to keep the peace. It might be saying yes when we really want to say no, or choosing the path everyone expects instead of the one that quietly feels true.
We believe that our authentic self is something we need to discover—as though our true self has somehow been lost along the way.
The Records have shown me a different way to look at it.
We are born authentic. As children, we naturally express who we are without questioning whether it's acceptable or expected. Then, little by little, life adds layers. We absorb messages about who we should be, what we should want, what we can't do, and how we are expected to live. Over time, those layers become so familiar that we lose touch with the person we have always been.
Authenticity isn't about finding or becoming someone new.
It's about releasing the layers that have kept you from living as the person you've been all along.
Authenticity is not a destination. It is a practice.
Every choice to honor what is true helps us release another layer. Over time, our lives begin to reflect who we have been all along.
That's what authenticity really offers.
The freedom to live as the person you've been all along.
