“Hold the clarity that your actions and intentions extend far beyond what you are able to see. The feedback you receive is only a glimpse of the impact you are making in the world.”—The Akashic Records

We often recognize the impact we have through the feedback we receive. Someone tells us that something we said helped them see a situation differently. A student shares how something they learned changed the way they approached an experience. Someone responds to something we wrote or created and tells us that it was exactly what they needed at that moment. Those experiences give us the wonderful opportunity to see some of the ways we are affecting the world around us.

But they only show us what makes its way back to us.

There is so much more happening that we will never hear about. Something we share may become part of another person's understanding and influence a choice they make months or even years later. Something we teach may become part of the way someone else teaches, leads, creates, or uses their own gifts. An experience we share may help another person understand something about themselves they had never been able to see before.

We may never know that we had anything to do with what happened next.

And the impact continues from there. Whatever changes within that person becomes part of what they carry into their own lives. Their understanding influences other conversations and choices. What they have learned may eventually become something they teach or share with someone else.

The feedback we receive is not the measure of our impact. It is simply the portion of our impact we happen to know about.

The Akashic Records ask us to hold clarity about everything beyond that portion. We will never witness every result of what we say, do, create, teach, or share. We won't hear every later conversation or see every decision made differently. We won't know when something we shared returns to someone's awareness months or years later, or how what they received from us becomes part of what they eventually offer someone else.

Our awareness of our impact has limits. Our impact does not.

Sometimes we feel called to share something without knowing who needs to receive it or why. We teach what we know. We share an experience from our own life. We use our gifts through healing, creating, writing, speaking, or whatever form they take. We create what keeps asking to be created.

From where we stand, we can see only our part. We cannot know what our offering may awaken in someone else, what they will do with what they receive, or how it may continue through them. The Records remind us that our inability to see what happens next does not limit what can happen next.

We can appreciate the feedback that does come to us for what it is: a beautiful glimpse into something much larger. It gives us an opportunity to see that something we did mattered, while reminding us that there will always be far more happening beyond our awareness than we will ever know.

And that is particularly important to remember when we question whether what we have to offer is significant enough to share.

We can underestimate our gifts because we imagine that our purpose must be something big or that what we offer must create an impact significant enough to justify offering it. But if we will never know the full reach of what we share, how could we possibly decide in advance whether it is important enough to matter?

This is the clarity the Records ask us to hold. Our part is to offer what is ours to offer. We don't have to know how far it will travel, whose life it may touch, or what may happen because we chose to share it.

The impact we are fortunate enough to see can remind us of all that is happening beyond what we will ever know.

What gift are you holding back because you aren't sure its impact will be big enough to matter?

Affirmation

I share my gifts knowing their impact extends beyond what I can see.

Journaling Prompts

  1. Where have you received feedback that showed you your words, actions, or gifts had an impact you didn't realize you were having?

  2. What might be happening beyond your awareness because of something you have taught, created, shared, or offered?

  3. Where might you be using the feedback you receive—or don't receive—to measure the value of what you contribute?

  4. What gift, experience, knowledge, or wisdom have you hesitated to share because it didn't seem significant or impactful enough?

  5. If you truly trusted that your impact extends far beyond what you can see, what would you feel called to share?

From My Journey

Some of the people who have influenced me most in my life have done so by what I think of as planting seeds. They haven't tried to convince me that their way of seeing something was right. Instead, they have simply offered another possibility: Have you ever thought about it this way?

Then they let me do whatever I am going to do with it.

I may not be ready to consider the idea when I first hear it. But when the time is right, I often find myself coming back to it, examining it through the lens of who I am now and asking whether there is something there that is true for me.

Some of those seeds have changed the way I understand myself, my work, and the world around me. And yet, the person who planted the seed may have no idea what eventually grew from it. They may not remember the conversation or ever know that I returned to something they said months or years later.

That makes me wonder how many times each of us has done the same thing for someone else. We may have offered an idea or shared something we learned and never heard another word about it. We may assume nothing happened when, in reality, we simply weren't there for what happened later.

We don't have to watch the seed grow to know that planting it mattered.
